Style on Point: Sutton Stracke from RHOBH

What do I personally adore most about Sutton Stracke from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?” She has grace and style while still being sassy in a non-malicious way. It’s her Southern roots and adherence to manners that make her a critical part of the group. She brings a sense of poise that we are not always used to seeing on the show.

Born and conservatively-raised in Augusta, Georgia, Sutton will always consider Georgia home. However, her life is taking off in Los Angeles with the show and her fabulous lifestyle boutique — The Sutton Concept.

Sutton’s relaxed style makes her a perfect fit for the RHOBH. Stracke also knows how to keep the drama short and spicy without dragging out an issue for an entire season. Sutton is direct and truthful — but never at the expense of others. When Gemma Magazine had a moment to speak with her, we were thrilled.

Like most, I love you on the show. How did it feel during filming at first — as well as watching the show after filming?

I think most people would react the same way, that it was an adjustment seeing myself on TV each week. It was really fun getting to know all the other ladies on the show. The fan reaction was a bit surprising and took me a while to get used to but with a show like RHOBH you get an education very fast. How would you describe Sutton? Some people see many of her qualities as insensitive.

On the contrary…She is just very truthful and strong. (something that is not always welcome in the south). I think I am a fair person that really cares about the people close to me. Sometimes my passion might come off insensitive and I tend to have a sarcastic sense of humor which can be misinterpreted but I think that once people get to know me they will see the whole picture which is more than a few minutes of what they see on TV.  Are you true friends with all the women on the show?

I have become close to the ladies on the show. I don’t think you can go through such a unique experience as this without bonding.

Your style is impeccable. Do you and your stylist shop together? I don’t use a stylist. I prefer to do my own shopping directly with the designers. I’m sad that I haven’t been able to attend any fashion shows due to the pandemic but look forward to being able to see some new collections first hand soon.

Congrats on your new boutique’s 1 year Anniversary!! It must be beautiful. What do you currently carry? The Sutton Concept is a full lifestyle branded boutique. We carry everything from clothing, skincare, jewelry, furniture, books and so much more. I personally curate everything in the store and like to rotate out different designers each season. I am actively looking to incorporate some African American designers. We also have a branded line of Sutton merchandise which includes aprons, cups, and masks which we hope to expand to more items soon. You can check out everything we carry on our website: www.thesuttonconcept.com How do you want to make ‘Sutton’ stand out from many of the retail stores in Los Angeles? Because we carry a wide range of items that are personally selected we don’t fit into any ‘mold’ of other stores out there. When you come to The Sutton Concept you feel like you walked into my home with a personal tour of my closets – and everything is for sale!! Do you ever miss Georgia and do you go back frequently? Georgia will always be a part of my roots and will forever be my ‘home.’ I go back as often as I can. I still have a house there and tons of family and friends. What are some of your favorite things to do in Los Angeles? I love going to Dodger games and spending time with my family. I love supporting charities such as PS Arts. With the pandemic lockdown, our activities have been limited so lately I’ve been really enjoying my downtime with my family. How do you balance being a mom and your currently incredibly busy schedule? I think it’s important to always make time for family (family comes first). I just sent my oldest daughter to college this year and all my children are very supportive of the show. My younger boys love watching the show with me – they think it’s really fun.

Gemma Magazine would like to thank Sutton for taking the time out of her busy schedule to speak with us.
