Desiree is a full-time model, social media influencer and the creator of Celestial Swimwear with her best friend. Jessica Ghishan. The brand was created in the beginning of 2022 in Los Angeles, California. What started as a passion project between the two friends quickly evolved into a visionary approach to their life's purpose -- helping others awaken the divinity within. The Celestial Swim capsule collection was created with four staple colors made out of luxe, recycled, sustainable, swimwear fabrics. The designs were created with versatility so they can style in various ways, and adjust to fit women's unique and beautiful form. The Ethereal Collection was inspired by celestial entities in the spiritual realm. Each bikini set is correlated with a Goddess that reminds us to awaken the divinity within through different attributes we can embody here in the physical realm. With the intention of spreading positivity, love, and light through branded aesthetics, Celestial Swim represents empowerment.
Desiree Scholtz
Desiree Scholtz started modeling in Minnesota when she was 15 years old, with the Arquette agency for five years. She gives her parents credit for her incredible work ethic. Not long after, Desiree moved to LA to pursue modeling full-time. It has not been easy, but the determined influencer did everything it took to make it. She's been living in Los Angeles for four years and has worked extremely hard. Desiree is also a travel blogger and brand ambassador for various boutiques. Desiree knew she wanted to showcase her skills as a model and entrepreneur. Desiree feels it was a risk and a lot of hustle to get there, but she finally feels she is on the right path.
When Desiree first moved to LA, she knew immediately that she wanted to be an entrepreneur. Desiree also wanted to make a better life her herself and and her family. "Since I had been flying out to LA from Minnesota about 3-4 times a month to shoot with different photographers and start making a name for myself while I was visiting there, I did not think it would be a hard transition, said Desiree." She struggled for the first two years. Desiree thought modeling would come to her quickly, but it did not. She got a job as a makeup artist at Sephora and did that for about seven months. After she left Sephora, Desiree decided to freelance, which is how she started meeting models and networking. From there, her social media began to gain some attraction, and it began to take off.
Desiree is making moves in both the entrepreneurial and modeling world.
She spoke with Gemma Magazine about the vision for her brand, the inspiration behind it, and starting a business with her best friend. So let's get started!
You are drawn to the name celestial due to its meaning, correct? Yes, celestial means belonging or relating to heaven and outer space, as observed in astronomy. Our brand embodies a celestial feeling, something so out of this world and enchanting our spirits.
What is your mission with Celestial Swimwear?
The vision for Celestial Swim is to help women awaken the power they have always had within. We wanted Celestial to be a fragment of what spirituality offers. We felt so passionate about the vision of Celestial in our personal lives that it was our purpose to shed some light and spread our vision to others. Awaken the divinity within has always been our message, and not going to lie; it is hard to come out with a spiritual brand when it may resonate with everybody differently than we had intended. Our brand is a community of women, daughters, mothers, wives, and sisters, and we welcome anyone curious to know if there is more beyond this life. Not only do we sell bikinis, but we are also much more than that. We are your guidance in times of need; we are here to remind you how amazing you are when you feel like there is nobody to tell you. We are the Celestial Goddesses here to help remind you that there are no limits to your success. We want our community to feel like a movement. Changing the world by helping awaken one soul at a time.

Is the brand sustainable as well? Our first collection was designed with the highest material quality, and our eco-sustainable techno fabric, ECONYL, is made of regenerated nylon fabric. This system uses 100% of waste material recovered from landfills and oceans everywhere. We are a sustainable brand, which we are very proud of. We will be introducing new recycled fabrics as well into our future collections.
I love how each bikini set correlates with a Goddess that reminds us to awaken the divinity within. Can you explain more about that? Each of our bikinis were named after a Goddess from my oracle deck. I bought this oracle deck years ago, and I always use them as daily affirmations or guidance. I always thought it would be a fantastic idea to name the bikini after each Goddess shedding light and information on spirituality. We have many more ideas for future collections relating to travel and different aspects of spirituality combined! Stay tuned.
How have you and Jessica enjoyed this process? We have enjoyed this process so much. We are so grateful that we can bring our visions to reality and create something so special. We have learned so much about each other and ourselves during this process. It’s fantastic to see that we live by what we preach. We believe in sharing our dreams in manifesting, healing, acceptance, and truth. To fuel your purpose/passion, you must experience it all yourself. It has been such a beautiful thing to watch each other grow into the fantastic businesswomen we have aspired to and talked about embodying for years.
What are some of your favorite styles? My favorite styles would be the Oshun bikini and the Iris bikini. I love the Oshun bikini because it is versatile and a classic black color that you need on every vacation. I love that you can wear it both as beachwear and a bikini. I also love that the Iris bikini is perfect for minimal tan lines. If you are looking for an excellent bikini to take somewhere tropical, to get that nice even tan that we all dream of, the iris bikini is perfect. The neutral/earthy tones match perfectly with almost anything!
Desiree has no intention of stopping and looks forward to developing the brand. Celestial Swim is the essence of of who the two best friends are and what they do best together. Their authenticity in creating the brand has already impacted and inspired others to manifest their dreams and desires.
