FUTURISTIC JETSON
Just when you think it can't get any more exciting with Bjorn van den Berg and his standout collections, it does! I've been reporting upon his work for about six years, and each collection just gets more daring with its intricate details and incredible aesthtic. Now he has a new body of work and its fantastic. Designer Bjorn van den Berg has presented his new couture collection: ‘FUTURISTIC JETSON’. With this collection, he will take you on an electric journey to a new world that is both surreal and futuristic. New techniques and details are combined with luxurious materials and high-tech electronic elements. Merging details from a distant future and Bjorn’s luxe aesthetic is what brings this futuristic ensemble to life.
COUNTLESS DETAILS
The color palette contains a bright chrome silver in combination with crystal details in lime green, black and clear. Some of the crystals are placed on a high gloss lime green base, while others are strategically placed to represent a strong and powerful statement. The hard metals and chrome parts form a strong contrast, resembling in a futuristic and modern outline traveling through space. “The collection has a modern and futuristic look and feel. This has been beautifully incorporated into the color palette and use of materials”, the designer states. “I was inspired by the nighties and put my own twist to it and translated it to a new futuristic world. With clear inspiration, “The Jetsons, a popular cartoon series, form that time period," said Bjorn.
A NEW AND SURREAL WORLD
With ‘Futuristic Jetson,' Bjorn van den Berg introduces a very personal collection and a follow-
up on his former Collection ‘Night Rider’ consisting of 16 hand-made pieces. The collection contains some very exclusive one-of-kind-pieces, like the corset, a signature piece from his work, a chrome waist belt with attached jockstrap made out of chrome motor parts, trimmed with dozens of crystals are real eyecatchers. With these statement pieces, the designer shows his typical and unique style through his new collection. Bjorn: “The chrome finish and several used metal parts complete the overall look and feel of this collection.” But also, a unique jewelry collection is integrated in this new collection, five exclusive and collectable pieces: a ring, bracelet, pendant, necklace and set off big statement earrings to complete the collection, every piece is unique, numbered and finished with a pure layer of Platinum.

What inspired you to come up with "Futuristic Jetson?" Everything in the collection works beautifully—combining sleek details with futuristic elements.
As a young kid, I was always a big fan, inspired by the cartoon THE JETSONS. The small, green spaceship was a popular character in the series. Therefore, I transformed a childhood fantasy into my vision, translating it into a clean, modern collection with a high-end fashion feel.
Gemma Magazine had the fabulous opportunity to speak with Bjorn van den Berg about 'Futuristic Jetson,' his inspiration, the materials and details used, and why he loves collaborating with others.
All the pieces are very surreal. Were you going for this aesthetic versus an 'everyday look'?
The bodice and the cosmic cowboy chaps are real showstoppers! I think the jewelry pieces and some of the waistbelt can be easily combined with black basics for daily wear, but you can also give it a beautiful futuristic twist when you combine the metal waistbelt with a black evening dress.
The collection is stunning. Tell us about the waist belt, which is super "Jetson-ish."
The waistbelt is a typical piece that can be combined with an evening dress or a simple jumpsuit to give it an extraordinary futuristic look and feel.
Why did you go with lime-green crystals?
Green was the color of the spaceship in the television series "The Jetsons,"
That is why I chose green.
What do you hope people take from this collection?
The collection has several timeless pieces, like the waistbelt and the stunning jewelry collection, that you can style, mix, and match in several ways. It is how you want to translate your own story—you can go over the top or add a twist. The most important element is that the pieces are timeless and will still be beautiful ten years from now.
Do you consider this collection wearable art? Defintely, but with a timeless twist --I always dare to be differnt with my designs. All pieces are true craftmenship and pieces of art.
