DJ iSizzle and His On Point Sense of Style

Men and Style. To put it bluntly, I love it when men have great style. It sets the tone, tells you they are interesting, and you become curious. Men with stellar style care about making a good impression upon others. A man with a particular fashion aesthetic makes me want to talk with them about their favorite choices and how they shop. Also, this does not have to be a coat-and-tie look. Whether it is street style or formal wear, men and fashion are becoming more symbiotic -- especially in L.A. Los Angeles loves fashion and style, and for men, a casual capsule collection will get you far, and it will be in vogue for each season. You can wear simple but classic looks inspired by denim, white Oxford button-ups, faded Hawaiian shirts, souvenir jackets & sweaters. Finally, always remember that shoes and accessories make the man (or break him). Here is some simple but treasured advice:

The most important rule: Style is not just about your clothes but how you carry yourself. Confidence, good posture, and a positive attitude are crucial to enhancing your style.

DJ Isizzle is one of those men that have a great sense of style and a hip look that sets him apart from the rest. Another words, the clothes do not wear him. He also has a fantastic attitude, which also makes for a stylish trait! He's at the point where he knows what he feels comfortable in and what looks good on him. Personally, he looks fantastic in a casual suit with lighter color tones. However, as more time has passed with additional events on the calendar, he has learned to curate quite a few eclectic and unique looks.

DJ iSizzle, also known as Ethan Michaels, has been captivating audiences for over a decade with his dynamic and versatile DJ skills. DJ iSizzle has mastered the art of creating unforgettable experiences at weddings, birthdays, school dances, corporate events, and more. Influenced by disco, classics and dance music, he brings a unique blend of music that resonates with all generations. Known for his professionalism, ability to read the crowd, and a deep passion for music, DJ iSizzle continues to spread joy and energy through every performance. When he's not behind the decks, he enjoys celebrating milestones, creating music, and spending time with his beloved dog and cat. Gemma Magazine had a chance to speak with DJ Isizzle about style in Los Angeles, his particular look, and DJ style in general.

What is your "go-to" outfit? Literally, what do you wear around the house?

I've curated a collection of fun and vibrant pieces for around the house this summer. I recently bought some t-shirts with neon mushrooms, frogs, caterpillars, and flower designs. Some shirts even have positive sayings like "Have a magical day" and "Happiness is a state of mind."

One of my favorite finds is a pair of shorts featuring an octopus on roller skates, complete with black shades and headphones. It's quirky and unique, perfect for making a statement. I also picked up a pair of bright yellow shorts with pineapples, which I like to mix with a baseball cap for a casual, playful look.

I wear slip-ons with ankle socks that are lightweight and super comfortable for footwear, ideal for staying calm and stylish on hot days. My summer fashion rule is simple: anything goes as long as it's bright and light. This approach keeps my wardrobe fun and fresh, perfect for the vibrant summer vibe.

Is there a specific "DJ style?" I feel like DJs are starting to have their own fashion sense.

I agree that DJs are starting to develop their fashion sense. In the 1990s—2010s, DJs typically wore a black T-shirt and jeans. Nowadays, I see more DJs wearing clothes that make them feel and look unique.

What do you enjoy wearing when you DJ (obviously, it depends upon the event)?

Great question. I DJ a variety of weddings, ranging from 300 guests to intimate 50-guest settings. I always start by asking the couple about the type of wedding they're having. Is it a classic black suit-and-tie wedding or a more casual, come-as-you-are wedding? Once I understand the wedding style, I review the playlist of songs they've requested and base my outfit on that. This way, my attire matches the vibe and ensures I'm in sync with the couple's vision for their special day.

For elementary school events, I love buying a new T-shirt, a long-sleeve button-up that I leave unbuttoned, and a plain baseball cap. If it's the fall or winter, I'll also buy a new jacket or hoodie. With school events, I've learned it's best to be yourself and look fresh and clean.

Do you prefer a collared or button-down shirt?

I like both collared and button-down shirts. Being 6 foot 1 with a longer neck, having a collared shirt helps balance my overall look. My approach to dressing while DJing is quite strategic. Usually, I'll start my set buttoned up in a long-sleeved shirt. About 20 minutes into my set, I roll my sleeves up, and by 40 minutes, I unbutton my shirt. I do this to create an illusion for the audience. Just like the music has to change in rhythm and beats, so does the DJ's attire.

What are some of your favorite apparel stores? Do you go with someone in particular?

I love going to the mall or outlet mall. There's so much variety to choose from. Almost every apparel store is there, and the selection is unlimited. Some malls have stores with custom hoodies and shirts. These are some of my favorite places to shop because you can create a custom look that is unique to you.

I really don't have a brand favorite, although I have DJ'd for Ted Baker London, and they gave me two button-ups and a baseball cap as a tip. They make some of the best form-fitting button-ups I've ever worn.

Do you thrift at times?

Some of the best fashion is from the past, and thrift shops are a treasure trove for finding timeless pieces. Back in the day, I hired a fashion stylist who gave me one of the best pieces of advice: always mix old clothes with new ones.

Plus, thrifting can really help you develop a unique style. It's amazing how you can mix and match vintage finds to create something that reflects your personality and stands out from the crowd.

It's also a sustainable way to shop, giving new life to clothes that might otherwise be discarded. Whether it's a classic band tee, a funky pair of bell bottoms, or a retro jacket, thrifting allows you to explore different eras and express your creativity in ways that fast fashion simply can't.

I love your hats. Where do you purchase them from?

Thank you for your kind words. I purchase them from everywhere. Sometimes, I'll buy my hats on the road or stop by a store before a gig. Believe it or not, I own over 50 hats. The hats I wear to weddings—I guess you could call them fedora style—are inspired by the timeless elegance of Frank Sinatra. His classic style always goes in fashion, and it also helps guests easily spot me when I'm DJing and MCing, which is a bonus.

Is having an exemplary style important as a DJ?

Having a good style as a DJ is very important. I've always believed that what you wear every day reflects how you feel on the inside. Why not feel thankful, happy, and positive on a daily basis with good style?

I know it's important to always dress for the occasion. If the guests are wearing a suit, do you also wear one?

Hmmm, it kind of depends. If it's a wedding, I always wear a suit—a button-up shirt, tie, slacks, dress shoes, a watch, and a hat. However, I don't want to overdress and make the guests feel uncomfortable, so I always bring a few changes with me just in case. Some couples change out of their wedding attire and into something more comfortable after the photographer leaves. I'll do the same not to feel overdressed.

Do you enjoy the casual, laid/back style of LA? Please expand.

Most definitely! LA's casual, laid-back style is really refreshing. It creates a relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for connecting with people and enjoying the vibe. Whether I'm DJing at a beach party or a rooftop event in LA, this easygoing vibe makes everyone feel comfortable and ready to have a great time.

Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for being interviewed about my style in such a prestigious magazine. Being featured in such a magazine means a lot to me. Thank you for the opportunity to share my passion and experiences with your readers. I truly appreciate it! (DJ iSizzle)
