On Sunday, October 13th, a charity concert took place to benefit Susan G Komen Los Angeles County (www.komenlacounty.org), whose mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer. Ryan Quast (“Q”) of Q Loves You, Inc produced the event that took place at the Avalon Hollywood. Participants from many factions of the Art world showed their support for this uplifting evening. Emmy Nominated Actress, writer, producer Kelsey Scott hosted the event which honored Classically trained British Opera Star Summer Watson and was headlined by LA’s charismatic Alternative/Pop Artist Fiona Grey.
Who is Ryan Quast? Q previously worked in the hospitality industry and had learned quality management skills along his journey to transition many of his strengths into a passion — creative event consulting and production. He was inspired by his sister, Angela (current Breast Cancer Warrior), to create the entertainment-based fundraiser, Band of Angels LA, which focused on women’s breast cancer experiences. Q has genuine respect for creatives as well as the nonprofit world and has now found a unique way to fuse the two. With Q’s love for the arts and gathering individuals together to enjoy them, his emerging company is not only about event production but spreading the love by celebrating life and all it has to offer. Q Loves You, Inc has a philanthropic soul to it, and with every event, the goal is to work with different nonprofits to raise money. Band of Angels LA was Q’s first official event, and it was an inspirational, exciting start. Q is the ultimate Creative Entrepreneur.
Summer Watson (Classically trained British Opera Star) was the Honoree for the event. After defying the odds by defeating Cancer, she described herself as a Breast Cancer Warrior and noted that singing and music are her inspiration in life. “After facing breast cancer, getting back to singing is amazing, and I had the desire to share incredibly uplifting songs for the evening,” said Watson. Summer also emphasized how important it is to realize that celebrating life allows others to heal.
Kelsey Scott (Emmy nominated Actress, Writer, and Producer) expressed her inspiration to host the event was two-fold. “On a humanitarian level, it is to support and advocate for women.” Scott also said, “On a personal level, breast cancer has touched many of my friends and family, and my mom was a survivor. Anything that I can do to use my voice so that others can be in a position where they are survivors is essential.”
Fiona Grey, (Alternative Pop Singer/Songwriter) was inspired by so many different artists coming together in order to support an important cause.
Additional artists that participated were Classic Rocker Peter Distefano, Reggaeton artist El Mata, Actor Ernie De Silva, Pop/Soul trio Dressing Room Sessions, ESPN’s Neil Everett, and Comedian Wayne Federman. The charity artwork and displays were a combination of contributed handles by the brilliant fundraising group Creative Charity Auctions and the talented writer/comic book creator Steffon Thomas’ introduction of a massive undertaking by The Creative Extreme, titled Project 365.
